Contributions of PBL in the teaching and learning process in the undergraduate course in Archivology

Abstract

Education takes place on the bus, at home, at church and in the family, and we are all part of this process. This scenario has favored the creation of a constructivist proposal for higher education, which consists of educating for autonomy, innovative methodologies, using research, student participation, group work, as a means of deepening and resinifying knowledge, active teaching and learning methods. The aim of this research is to analyze how the active Problem Based Learning (PBL) method contributes to the teaching and learning process in the undergraduate Archivology course at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). A qualitative, descriptive case study was carried out. The results indicate that the teaching and learning objectives of PBL are recommended as an efficient method for training archivists. The final considerations endorse the method as an innovative model for the social sciences, which makes an excellent contribution to the training and work of information professionals.
