Archives system in public universities

Abstract

The present work is the result of a research carried out in 2018 and presented as a monograph for the conclusion of the Archival Science course at Universidade Federal Fluminense. Its purpose is to present the notion of archives system in the context of records management in public universities, in view of the need to think about new models so the records management occurs more efficiently and integrated way among all sectors of the same record-producing organization, with a central body emanating standards and guidelines common to the entire organization. This work begins with a brief literature review on the basic concepts of archives system, starting with documentary research on archival structures and archives systems of the Universidade de Brasília, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria and Universidade de São Paulo. We analyze the central archives and archives systems of these universities, regarding the objectives, purposes, structure, management tools and supporting documents. The methodology used consists in the analysis of the websites, standards, regulations, resolutions, statistical yearbooks and other documents referring to the universities in question. The results obtained in this research demonstrate the concern of universities with the management of their records, which are designed in order to integrate all their producing sectors and archives maintainers.
