Abstract

Since the beginning of 2020, people have heard of COVID 19, and since mid-March, has begun a social isolation that has never been preceded in Brazil. Therefore, man will have to relearn how to live in society, rethinking attitudes and values because of the pandemic that is plaguing the world. This scenario motivated the reflections raised in this article, which aims to discuss the value of reading classical literature in times of pandemic and, still, to reflect on how literary classics can suggest possible ways to understand the COVID-19 pandemic moment. In view of the closure of libraries and schools, it is also questioned how the librarian and the teacher can contribute to their social commitment to mediate reading. Based on a theoretical framework derived from Literary Studies, Librarianship and Sociology, was used bibliographic research to discuss the guiding questions of this study
